Moss sells for the MGA 1500? Thanks...Joe Ratigan - 58 1500 Roadster Yep. Cross references to all of the following, and maybe more. Fram PH43 NAPA 1068 AC Delco PF-20 Motorcraft FL-300 Purolator L200
I had a lot of trouble with this when I did my conversion. The filter that comes with the kit is some strange (British?) brand that I never heard of and is not cross-referenced in any of the books. F
<< Does anyone know the Fram number for the spin on filter adapter that Moss sells for the MGA 1500? Thanks...Joe Ratigan - 58 1500 Roadster Joe, I use both Fram PH3600 or AC PF56. Scott in Northern
Hello Joe: me, seems identical in every way. I am now running WIX 51034. It is 10mm shorter than the Fram and is much easier to change out in the cramped space on both the MGA and the MGB. Regards, D
Regarding all the different types and numbers of replacement spin-offs for Moss' conversion, I wonder shouldn't there be an internal pressure relief valve inherent in the selection of filters used? M
That is true. The fact that several filters from the same manufacturer have the same exterior size, thread size, and gasket diameter doesn't mean they are all suitable for the same application. Some
So we come full circle on the original question as to which is the proper replacement filter for the spin-off conversion kit for the MGA. Using only Fram numbers for simplicity, we have the following
If the filter hangs vertically below the adapter, then there is probably no need for an anti-drainback valve. Note the "probably". Filter position isn't the only deciding factor here. On some engines
<< An internal pressure relief valve is required? Why? Surely the cotton filter / canister stock setup has no pressure relief valve. If it is required, how does one know the proper pressure, then how

Thank you for a coherent, cohesive, thorough discussion of the subject. I think the net of it is that the filter I'm using is probably OK. I do have the following questions, however. On Tue, 15 Apr
Thanks, Chip, for your help. Barney posted a thorough discussion, as well. For years I have been justifying the use of the PH 3614 with the thought "well, whatever it is, it has GOT to be better than
internally to the engine block, and would bypass oil without being filtered. Moss discovered the problem and stopped selling it shortly thereafter. have to check my records tonight). How do I know if
Yes, I finished reading your entire post and now retract my earlier comment that someone should take this on as a research topic...I see that you have. Thanks for the help. I believe I can now go an
