- But how would one use a multimeter to test a coil that is not installed in a car? What should the resistance be over the terminals and the HT connection? And must one measure capacitance also? Regard

- You can make some checks with a multimeter, but it's not really of much value. Most of the time, unless a coil is TOTALLY dead, it will test fine on the bench, then fail once it warms up in operation
