- I've never had a problem replacing the thermostat using only a new gasket and no sealer. If you need to use Permatex due to a rough casting, I would use the non-hardening version. --

- Eric, it appears you may have a leaky master cylinder (clutch of course!). I had the same symptoms on both a Volvo and an early model B. Rebuilding the master cylinder did the trick in both cases. It
