Matt Are both screws that hold the drum in place still there? I lost one of the screws on one side of the car and had a similar experience as you - put a new screw in and presto no rubbing no noise.\

Philip Guess its confession time - I once had my Non-LBC car stop on the side of the road and couldnt get it started. Gas gauge read half full. Called AAA who came and towed it to a service station.
