Sounds like Jon is making progress... Runs for 5 minutes then stops. Sounds a bit like a tired fuel pump. After it dies is there fuel in the carb bowls? attach the plug wire, lay the plug against the

I'm getting ready to pull the engine on my '70 model MGB roadster this weekend. Even though the car is a 1970 model, a PO put in an 18V series engine (584Z). I've got the "Official" manual from Bent

Sounds a bit like rod knock. I'd be inclined to pull the oil pan and ckeck for a loose rod. Perhaps check the torque on the end-caps. Sounds like a vacuum leak to me also. I've got one of those hand

As I recall, the indicator light is part of the circuit which feeds the "field" windings on the alternator. When the alternator is running properly, it produces enough voltage on the field terminal

I found out about the drain one day when I was under the car poking about. I found this strange looking hose that as I recall has a bulge built into it on the bottom which forms into a flat piece. I

[snip] I'd recommend the "MGB Guide To Purchase & Restoration" by Lindsey Porter. It goes into detail about the weak areas of the MGB body. Lots of other hints on general repair as well. You should

[snip snip] You've looked at all the things I would have. 120 sounds just a tad low to me for the compression, but what matters most is that all cylinders are pretty much equal. I would suspect 2 th
