- If I understand the problem correctly, maybe you could put some very small washers on the "nail" part of the pop rivet to space it away from the rivet gun while you install it. Jim S.

- I believe oil dipsticks are calibrated to be read with warm oil and oil drained into the sump. Oil, like most other things expands when hot, so you will get a slightly different reading with cold oil
