That might be,I had thought that since the problem was caused by pins seizing up(with grease on them) that anti seize was the solution...but I was wrong. Anti seize caused them to seize just as much.

No the boots should not be filled with oil, they need to compress and would explode if filled. As far as the rack goes yes that is filled with gear oil and not grease ...Art

Some oil will get into the boots but they are not designed to hold oil but to keep out dirt. If you fill them with oil they wouldn't compress, they would split. ...Art

Instead of trying to stretch the cover, add a piece of elastic to the front and attach a lift-the-dot to it. The lift of dot can also be used on the other end to attach the elastic to the tonneau. ..
