I have always tightened head studs dry, and torqued til you thought you might strip them out of the block. I have a factory head nut wrench. It is a full circle and thin enough to fit under the rock

Hi Terry Personally I don't see any need for Loctite on the block ends of the studs: they are tightened at 35-40 lb-ft into blind holes so they arn't going anywhere. I use anti-seize there, and greas
