- I've always wondered what gyroscopic effect the wheels and flywheel have on a race car . To see what happened I just did a test with a gyroscope (my die grinder hanging from a string , spinning on a

- Those are called Coriollis forces and are present in any spinning system. The "effect" takes place 90 degrees AFTER the input (in the direction of rotation. Dale Clay I've always wondered what gyrosc

- Try pointing it up & down and see what happens. This simulates a camber change (wheel tilt angle). Regards, Neil Tucson, AZ I've always wondered what gyroscopic effect the wheels and flywheel have o

- Somebody sent this quote from John Akroyd , Thrust's designer : "A lighter wheel reduces the gyroscopic forces which tend to overturn the car in extreme yaw conditions (loss of control)". That agrees

- Actually it's called gyroscopic precession, coreollis effect has to do with the rotation of the earth under a moving object. Can you figure this into the equation as well please. Jim

- Jim your exactly right.... With helicopters we have to factor all that into where the inputs are made.... so while flying you push right to go forward with a counter rotating rotor.... oh wait... the

- My bad! You are correct, Jim. I was in the middle of some things and was thinking of a helicopter rotor which experiences both. When the blades flap up or down due to gyroscopic precession (control i
