I didn't know that. I was always under the assumption that on the Long Course if any one of the mile speeds exceeded the existing record you were qualified to run the second leg of the record attempt

What I have never understood is that if you make a return run over the record faster than the qualifing run why it isn't a qualifier.. example record is 190 qualifiing run 195 return run 205 average
