Neil, all...doesn't welding of the tube end make the question of hardening the tube by chop saw cutting, moot? Seems to me it would.. Both gas welding and TIG welding put far more heat into the metal

Yeah, I can see that. I have never used the stuff so it is foreign to me. I can see the cut off material getting embedded. As to localized heating man I don't see how that could come anywhere close
