Bill; Nitriding is similar to case hardening and may be thick enough to not crack through. What you are calling caged needle bearings I think is what I call roller bearings. They are in split cages,

The reason I called the bearings Roller Bearings only applied to the diameter of the individual pins. Since they were not little (.060) like universal joint needle bearings, I think of them as roller

Did you count Marlo's 6:71 blown 2 rotor lakester. That was a strange looking thing. Blower was about the same size as the motor. Rich Fox, leaving for the salt early Friday.
