I agree. Total has to be (approximately) 3 ohms, doesn't matter if it's a 3 ohm coil, or a 1.5 ohm coil plus a ballast resistor. Other combinations may appear to work at first, but risk burning out

Years ago I bought a TR3 "race prep'd" engine with 2" SUs. I was told by several people that it was too much carb for the engine so I never tried the set up. Still have the intake and carbs in a box.
