One other possibility is that your dizzy bearings are shot and the gap closes. Happened to me on an old Honda Civic I owned. Drove me crazy. And yes, the bearings in Roadster dizzies do go bad. First

Dana, check replace the condenser. The purpose of the condenser is to reduce the sparking when the points open and close. The ballast resistor may be bypassed also. What year is your car? If it is a
