I run the piston part way down, push in the rope, then run the piston back up tight. The tool I use to compress the spring is a K-D 2078. Here is a picture of one. http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/kd20

I noticed on the site Richard listed, there are air fittings to apply air pressure to hold the valves up - I have done this on american motors - has anyone tried it on a roadster? Might be lots easie

You can get a fitting or make one that will screw in to the spark plug and hook up to an air hose, the air pressue will hold the valves shut, much easyer than useing rope mike

The trick with the compressed air is that the piston needs to be at TDC on a compression stroke so that both valves are closed. Make sure you have the crank set EXACTLY at TDC or the compressed air c
