Hi Everyone, I am planning on purchasing a Optima or Odyssey battery this week. RWM shared he purchased a 51R. I believe this model has reverse poles. Is this required on our Roadsters? I am concerne
I specified the 51R for several reasons: - 51R lighter, smaller, but still has a robust 650 CA and 500 CCA - looking at the top of the battery standing by the passenger side fender, the 51R terminal
I'm using an Optima Red Red 75/35, Model 12853. Weighs in just under 40lbs. Has terminals on side and top. I'm using the top; they clear the hood just fine. Here's a pic of the same battery in Leigh

I have a 51 R in both my roadsters, a 66 and a 68. Fit easily, are light, and I paid less than $35 for them (each) at Costco. Gary C In a message dated 7/3/2006 1:01:19 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, pa

I'd check on the price. Never seen them under maybe $90 myself. Sam's, or at least the one in Temple, didn't stock the reversed terminal Red Top (apparently Optima doesn't offer a reversed terminal
Yeah, the one I got from Costco was $110 and the only model the carried. Where'd you get that deal on the 51R's? ` ___ ' Pete - (O o) - --ooO--(_)--Ooo-- Lake Forest Park, WA 1966 1600 (SPL311-00799)
Not a lot of space between the battery and the distributor, but, yes, it fits. Just check out the link below to a pic of the battery in Leigh's '69 2000 (looks almost the same in my '66 1600). Pete H
