I recently read, or saw on TV, that synths should be changed every 3K also. I guess you could do 5K but I'd change the filter at 3K. I forgot the reasoning but it made sense. The claims of 15K w/o c

BMW has used synthetic oil since 99 and the oil change intervals are about 15,000 miles. That could be due to the fact BMW is paying for the first few oil services and trying to save a buck or 2. Ken
