I had the same problem with my 280ZX wheels. First thing I did was to have someone step on the brakes when I tightened down the lug nuts so that the wheel could be rotated until it was tight against

You should also take into account that if it was a split rim, there would have to be a tube inside the tire. Since most if not all passenger tires are tubeless, I doubt that your rim is two piece. Pa
