Was the clutch plate installed backwards? If the longer side of the hub is mounted on the flywheel side, to quote Haynes, "you will find the clutch quite impossible to disengage." I recently added a'

I don't know if there is any similarity between the TR6 and 1275 Spridget clutch setups, but I had a very similar experience with my Midget. I must confess that I installed the release fork backwards
