From the description, the most suspect components are often not original. So I must ask... what kind of 79 MGB do you have? Stromberg, SU, or Weber? Allison, Pirrana, Lumnition, or points? 23D, 25D,

I had a similar problem on my 79 Midget. I had replaced the Lucas electronic ignition with the Crane Cams one. After several years of operation several of the wire threads for the electronic pick-up

By now this thread should be knoted and cut, but, not without my .02. Vince suggests that the problem may be the ignition module: loss of power, tach falls to zero Say... that sounds just like my '85
