Mike I just remembered another important reason to put "greenstuf" in your radiator. Jags have major electolisis problems which result in $$$$$$$$$$$$$ very expensive repairs to the aluminum head!!!

try shorting around the solonoid using a LARGE conductor like a big screw driver or jumper cables. This should give you an idea which is at fault. dickn
