Hi people, I'm entertaining the idea of putting Konis on my stock '99 Miata--I miss the well-planted feel of the old MR2. I'll autocross it occasionally, but will mostly be putting commute miles on i

Hey Phil, Depending on which shocks you have on your car now, depends on the ride. If your car has the normal OEM shocks, then the Koni's set at full soft should be very similar. Now if you have a ca

I have regular Koni adjustables on my '96 Miata. At full soft the ride is tolerable, much more so than the original Bilsteins. At full stiff, they knock my fillings loose. They're a great upgrade, an

My sense (having just swapped in the Konis from stiffer-than-stock Bilsteins) is that while the Konis at full soft don't transmit the big slow bumps, they tend to chatter more over rough spots than t

Just so people know, the Bilsteins that came with the '94-97 "R" package Miatas had a special valving. They had about 4 times as much compression damping as the ones Bilstein sold as OE replacements,

I can't say for the NB platform, but on my '91 the ride quality actually improved with the Koni Sports (at least it did vs. the KYB GR-2's it had when I bought it). If your car currently has Bilstein

new shocks will usually ride better than old worn out ones, even if they are valved stiffer. i have koni monotube shocks now, and the ride is much improved over the old super soft street rod style sh

You can overcome the 99-03 deficiencies in shock compression by not checking the grease in the swaybar bushing for about 35k miles, and than making sure not to inspect your end link bushings for defo

My experience with the MR2 has been the opposite. Granted it's got an entirely different suspension setup than a Miata. But going from OEM struts to Koni adjustables made a significant impact on ride

In my experience my Miata actually rode better on the Koni's then it did with the stock shocks with 80,000 miles. It seems the stock shocks rode harder on the small bumps & floated on the big bumps.
