- Personally, I'd just take a fresh battery if you can borrow one from another car. The car will run for quite a ways with a topped off battery and no alternator. Get it to someplace more comfortable t

- Actually, I can see that working well for older cars, but modern cars use alot more power so it depends on how far you try to go. I did what Paul is suggesting when the alternator went out on my 89 P
