- I will be re-assembling my Series 5 engine soon , the main bearing bolts have an assortment of different size washers fitted. Does anyone know the thickness of the original washers? Thanks Paul

- Paul, If I remember correctly, the main bearing cap bolt's washers were the same thinkness as the head bolt washers. They seems to be close to 1/16". Jan -- ______ ______ _______ / ____/ / ____/ / __

- Hey Paul, Forget thickness, worry about hardness. Get some hard steel grade 8 washers at a fastener specialty place. Soft washers are no place on main bolts. Jarrid Paul Tring wrote:
