i had a bouncing speedo needle, tended to get worse the higher the speed. i replaced it with a grey repro one from TRF, and it's still bouncing. so i took the speedo out and brought it down to palo

Ryan--What your speedo repair shop said about the "long" square drive has also been said by others who should know. West Valley Instruments, for another, recommends that the square drive be no longer

Probably a dry speedo cable. If they can't spin freely, they tend to "whip" causing the jumping you are experiencing. You can grease it, but inspect the core cable carefully for breaks and badly worn

Hi Mike, I had a bouncy speedo on my 76 tr6 since I bought it 2 years ago. Lubing the cables didn't help, turned out to be a sticky interval counter unit, which had th4e same symptoms (bouncy speedo)

Mike--If you still have the "jumping speedo", it could be something as simple as a dry cable. First, disconnect the inner cable at the speedo and pull it out of its sheath. Apply some kind of grease

Its possible that some DPO changed the rear end gearing. My '70 has a 4.30 in it and thats the area of my speedo error. Bill
