Hey Team, I'm trying to track down an electrical gremlin, maybe one of you can help me out. The battery goes dead on my 1974 1/2 TR6 if I don't drive it everyday. I measured the current at the negati

Hi Kendall, I just rebuilt a "5-wire" 17ACR alternator to replace the alternator on my 74 TR6 (I got some parts off eBay cheap). The original 18ACR alternator I took out has the same connections your

Hi Jeff, Thanks for the quick response! I just measured from the regulator input spade to ground and got an open circuit (over a mega-ohm) to ground. When I plugged in the output wire and field suppl

Sounds to me like you are doing a bang up job of tracking this down. 290mA is too much, so I would say your alternator has a problem. Pull it from the car and take it to an auto electric shop for te

Hey again list, Does anyone know what sort of current is flowing through the battery with the key off in an 'electrically healthy' 1974 TR6. 5-10mA? What is normal? Thanks guys! Kendall

If we were to assume my 1976 is Ok it seems to be,,,,,, And that I did do a little checking around and was told that my 10.5ma draw was still good and up to 20mA was high but ok for a Lucas.... Bob

Hey again list, I changed out the regulator in the alternator today. That fixed the serious current draw problem I had. 320mA is now down to 22mA or so. 22mA is still higher than I'd like, but not en
