I believe that the magic number you are looking for is 21.2 MPH per 1000 rpm in fourth gear. Your numbers are close. You should be going 72 MPH at 3400 but 2 MPH variation in a speedo is no big deal,

This is the close-enough gauge I have always used: 20 = 10 - 2000 in 1st gear is 10 MPH. 20 = 20 - 2000 in 2nd gear is 20 MPH 20 = 30 - 2000 in 3rd gear is 30 MPH 20 = 40 - 2000 in 4th is 40 mph This
