It was just a guess. From the information given, it was stated to be "ABOUT 1/8 inch ", so I safely assumed within the given parameters that it could be much thinner. I did not go for the spacer opt

New frames are pretty cheap too--$4250.00, if I recall correctly. I have a 1970 TR6 parts car (no motor or transmission) that spent 15 + years in a barn, with a solid frame, I will sell for $1,600.00

If the wattage of the bulbs differs the flash time will differ. Even different brands of bulbs with the same wattage rating may have different resistance which can affect the flash rate. Ed Bratt Re

The big bang when it failed would suggest that a loose piece of metal tried to do an exit between two gears.. It is likely to be a piece from a failed bearing or a tooth breaken loose from a gear. F

A less frustrating way to buy Moss parts is to find a reseller who acts as a Moss agent. I am in Canada and have bought parts from Drakes British Motors and get the same or better prices, no customs
