My apologies to all who have initially responded to this inquiry a
couple of weeks ago..your mail was lost due to an unexpected computer
glitch (Love those Macs!)
I have recently installed a dual-point Mallory distributor in my TR250
and as a consequence, no longer have a tach drive. I have picked up a
N.O.S. XJ6 tach (Yes, it is smaller, but I plan to fabricate a black
metal filler that will look good). This is for a 6 cyl., negative earth
car. How do I hook this up? There is a spade type fitting on the back of
the tach(male), and 3/8" away, another male fitting that looks like a
beefy phone jack (like on professional headphones). I've been told
(thanks Randall) that one of these connections hooks up to the same
terminal on the coil that the distribitor(low voltage) wire does. What
feeds the other terminal on the tach (where does this feed come from)?
And, which wire goes to which terminal on the tach? Please be as
specific as possible on this, ok? I would hate to burn her up at this
point!Thanks again in advance.
