I am a new reader and recently started restoration of TR6.
Quickly browsed the FAQ section and noted several common situations with other
readers.
I differ on the "how to" pertaining to removal of the retaining screw on the
clutch fork. Instead of having to cut through thru the shaft and replace it
as well, I was able to drill thru the center of the exposed end of the screw
with increasing larger bits. Having removed most of the metal, the screw was
easily removed with an easy-out.
Secondly, one of your readers mentiond finding a fulcrum installed wrong. I
have a question in regard to the proper orientation and the consequences of a
"wrongly" installed upper fulcrum pin on the upper wishbone of the front
suspension. I rebuilt the suspension of my TR6 and was so sure of the way
the pin should have been mounted that I reversed it from the way I found it
during the disassembly.
The pin has an offset designed into the casting. To the novice this appears
to be to accommodate the upper shock mount. I installed the pins on my TR6 so
the offset straddles the shock mount. Is this wrong? Upon inspection, it is
difficult to determine if the ends of the pin are offset from the mounting
holes. Looks symetrical. Hope it is and I dont have to redo. Please let me
know.
Finally, can you describe the correct orientation of the 3rd/4th gear synchro
hub in a CD34316 series transmission? Following Plate CQ in the TR6 catalogue
Vol. I, I am not sure
that I installed it right. One end is dished out and on the other end, there
is a spline extension. Does the extended end mount toward the engine end of
the transmission or toward the rear diffenential?

motoring in their TR6.
