Help!

I've always wanted a Spitfire and now that I'm in CA where there is
plenty of sunshine and rust-free cars I am really excited about buying
one! Unfortunately, I don't know any Triumph guys to consult with so I
thought I'd try bugging you.

I've located a 1977 model which is a one owner car with only 17,000
orignial miles! The asking price is $5500 and the car is located in the
Bay area of CA. It sounds like the orignial owner has died (he isn't
around, could be divorce, I've called on the phone and plan to see the
car Wednesday) and the wife doesn't know much about the car. So my
concerns ... what could be wrong with a car with this low mileage? I
would assume many seals could be bad due to aging ... anything special
to be aware of or to check?

Also, I've never seen a price that high for a Spitfire ... but then it
is a one owner with only 17,000 miles. Any comment about the price?

Sorry to bother you about this ... but I don't know any Spitfire guys
and would really appreciate and help or words of wisedom.

Thanks,

David Wray
