As I write this, my Uncle is on his way to pick up his recovered MGB vintage
racer and trailer, which were stolen from Highland Park, IL during the weekend
of June 25-26. The trailer was found late last night in Chicago.
He has already seen the car, and it appears to be intact. It looks like the
thieves kept the tools and paddock equipment (gas cans, floor jack, E Z up,
etc) and then abandoned the trailer and car. They also took the hitch, which
was stored inside the trailer, but not the load equalizing bars. The coupler
lock, designed to make it harder to steal the trailer, was still intact and in
place in the coupler.
We wish to thank all who helped get the word out: Kev Lynch and Bob Alder of
RMVR, the Vintage Motorsports Council, Paul Kort who posted to the Datsun 510
and Roadster lists, Scott Barr and Midwestern Council, our home club VSCDA, and
if we forgot to mention anyone, please accept our apologies and gratitude.
Compared to what happened in London today, this was a very small thing. We're
glad to have it back but we are certainly keeping things in perspective.
THANKS again to all,
Nowell Korey
