The Trans-Am tags were only used that one time. They are a very unique design
and did not have the region number. I have seen several fakes but the stamp
die is unmistakable once you have seen it.
Examples would be:
AS-23, BS-47, etc., designating the sequential number for A-Sedan and
B-Sedan.
Otherwise, most regions simply stamped the roll bar directly. This could very
well be a Ralt serial # on a tag put on by someone after the fact because the
RT1 was made between approx. 1977-1980. It could be a 1979 RT1, chassis 169.
I would still check the regional secretary to see if the number matches that
make and model.
