FYI...SPEED TV is airing two 1970s racing films on Sunday evening on the
Autorotica segments, 8pm and 9pm.
* 8pm EDT Once Upon A Wheel, narrated by Paul Newman is a documentary covering
Formula 1, INDy, NASCAR, Can-Am and a celebrity-Pro/am race with 914/6s that is
pretty nostalgic.
* 9pm EDT The Speed Merchants, narrated by Mario Andretti and Porsche driving
favorite, Vic Elford, was produced and directed by Michael Keyser, who followed
the 1972 racing season on circuits around the world. Really some incredible
footage and fantastic sound track *.
Keyser, a former IMSA driver (won Sebring 1976 with Al Holbert in a Porsche
RSR), also wrote the Speed Merchant's Book, A French Kiss With Death... The
Steve McQueen Story on the of filming of LeMans; and is currently writing and
publishing motorsports more documentaries along with Lee Raskin.
* If you don't get SPEEDTV (yet)...The Speed Merchants is available on DVD at
www.autosportsltd.com/start.html and at Rennsports II at Daytona.
