Glad to hear that others have struggled with the same temptation issues as I
have.  True, you can go faster with a bigger motor but it's not as
satisfying.  It's also not as satisfying to run mid-pack in a group of
"never was" cars (and have to drive like hell to do that...) but those are
the decisions one has to make.  It's interesting that in South Florida we
are beginning to see some long-time HSR stalwarts showing increasing
interest in the SCCA Vintage program for "properly prepared", pre-'73 cars.
Costs and attitudes seem to be taking their toll as more people seek out a
low-key, enjoyable environment to spend their time and race dollars in.
VDCA is another of these organizations which will, hopefully, benefit from
the fallout.

There are places where you can run a period-correct car without becoming an
obstacle.  That's the benefit of having so many race organizations!  And
with a "proper" car, you can run with all of them!  It's good to hear that
more of them are returning to the original spirit of Vintage...  Keep the
faith!
