When my Lotus 7 was teched by Tivvy Shenton at the Pittsburg Vintage
Grand Prix he pointed out that I had too much space between the brake
pedal assembly and the heads of the brake cylinder rods. He stated that
if one of the cylinders experienced failure there would be too much play
for the pedal to actuate the good cylinder. So I brought both ends right
up next to the top of the brake pedal assembly. However I have not had
the opportunity to actually check to see if this fail safe system will
actually work. I suppose I could disconnect one side and try the brakes.
When I get a moment I will try this and let the group know the results.

Gary Brooks experienced a similar situation in his ex-Sebring Corvette.
He
says he has a fix but I don't know what it is yet. I have asked him to
right
something for the newsletter.

The problem is that you run out of pedal travel before the "good" side
gets
any pressure on it. I think everyone ought to check their systems both
ways
to see what happens when the other side is open.

These system give a false sense of security when there may not be any.

What have others discovered?
