Road America has posted a tentative entry list for the Brian Redman
International Challenge. I'm a bit confused about the fact that I have
been placed in Group 8B.
I have a 1974 MG Midget vintage racer with a 1275cc motor. The BRIC
pamphlet indicates I would go into Group 8B as a "Historic Production
GTU, Production based cars 1275cc to 1500cc."
That's fine, except that VSCDA is sanctioning the event and its Group
classifications would place me in Group 2D "Vintage Production Based
Cars." This from the VSCDA website: "Some newer cars previously
categorized in Group 8, Class A (under 1275cc) are moved to Group Two and
will be classed based on their engine size. Certain post 1963
continuation models ie: ALL MINIS, SPRITES, MG MIDGETS REGARDLESS OF AGE
OR ENGINE SELECTION [emphasis added], 356C Porsche are also placed in
Group Two."
Has Road America made a mistake or do the classifications differ for that
event?
Thanks for any enlightenment anyone can provide.
