it was a horrible tow south in the incredible winds of thursday. white
knuckles and thin nerves as we pulled into VIR.
i had an incredibly wonderfull weekend playing with a red formula V. i was
a second or two slower than my competition for the weekend , wich was jim
sheffield in his fiat abarth 850T.C. nuremburgring. but the V was down on
power a bit and was quite a match for my trusty old "the pumpkin" saab. i
was trying like the dickens to reel in jim but to no avail and when the
front runners started lapping us that finished my desires to attempt to get
closer to jim. for a change i never lost sight of him! lol! the course
was as wonderfull as i remembered it from june's homecoming event. and of
course i was out there pointing evryone by too! now begins the long winter
stretch of rebuilding broken bits and pieces and working like a mad
scientist on the top secret "go fast" and "go faster" saab stuff (if ya
believe that one i've got this dry level florida property i'd like to
discuss.....). any how i drove it on the trailer after sunday's race and
brought it home still running and unscathed. it seemed a bit odd to be
wishing fellow racers a safe and happy holiday season and a happy new year
in late october(oh yes, and to stay warm). but so it was as we departed
from the world's most beautifull race track for the long haul home.
i trust evryone had a safe tow home! by 10:30 pm est. we were backing up
into the driveway and already i was looking forward to the beginning of the
2002 season.......*sigh*
now doug, let's get the proper group 1 report. and not the bar
report.....lol!
