Because finding common ground means drawing lines right off the bat,
unless you start with "anything with four wheels" Oops! I just drew a line
and excluded the fabulous 6-wheeled Tyrrel P34 F1 car!
There is no escaping the line-drawing. The successful organizations have
drawn reasonable lines that appeal to a large enough base of participants to
put on quality events. Ask anyone who is involved with running a vintage
organization of any kind - the line drawing is a constant and on-going
headache. Someone will always be offended and you will inevitably (sometimes
unintentionally) exclude deserving cars/participants.
