I'm afraid it is the latter. I had a '68 Cortina GT, bought new and it's
biggest fault was the negative grnd DC generator, or dynamo. In 1968, every
thing British turned from positive ground to negative earth. There were some
earlier pos grd Lucas alternators (pre-68) that were special for race and
rally use, but they were rare in 1970 and have got to be damned near extinct
today.
