Murphy's Law (Simon's variations)
1. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. (the original)
2. An object will fall so as to do the most damage. (AKA Mrs. Murphy's
Corollary, or the buttered-side-down law.)
3. All things being equal, the most expensive part will break first.
(Been there, done that, got the souvenir engine parts to prove it.)
4. Even a cheap part can break so as to cause maximum embarrasment.
(Try having a 50 cent ignition connector break right in front of the
grandstands.)
In the case of race cars breaking down as far away as possible from the
trailer, which happens to be uphill, I think it's the buttered-side-down
law that applies. ;=)
