T'was the night before Christmas when all through the land
Not many cars were stirring due to snow salt and sand.
The Allards, Healeys, Triumphs and MG's
Had foiled their masters by hiding the keys.
The Austins and Bonds so small yet so spry
Had hidden themselves out of site for the nigh'
Aston Martins and Jags even cowered behind their doors
With pools of oil, coolant and grease on their floors.
The cold and the wind had convinced even Rover
That it would refuse to let it's engine turn over.
The mighty had fallen, the elegant stayed silent
Afraid that their coach work or bumpers would be bent.
The kids said goodnight as the storm built its wrath
and promised to halt everything in it's path.
So I in my jammies and the wife in flannel too
Had retired for the night after the trip to the loo.
When what to our wondering ears should we hear
but a pucketa-pucketa, was it Nick?...that old dear!
And that noise, could it be, the old guy we all like
Was braving the weather in an old Morgan trike!
The Amal carb feeding each hungry spark
Driving the chain drive rear wheel the roof as it's mark.
He sprang from the Super Sport, its exhaust all aglow
The V-Twin engine melting all the ice and snow.
And from the beetle back, strapped on with some twine
Came the presents, the goodies, the spirits and wine.
He dropped down our chimney all covered on oil
which flew off the valves and springs in recoil.
He spread out the presents and adorned our big tree
With gifts and suprises that next day we would see.
Then off he went back to the reliable ride
and I watched as he rode through the night with such pride.
And I heard him exclaim as his trike raced away
Merry Christmas to all and happy Moggin' I say.
