the group 44 tr6 is alive and restored to top show quality living in
florida. 2 years ago it came up to the aaca vintage race car certification
comm.(which i serve on) for verification for certification. the aaca
certifies a car's history to verify that the car represented is the actual
car and not a fabricated representation produced from photographs and
memories. there are some individuals out there fabricating famous cars for
profit from bits and pieces that historically never ever were together.
this type of certification provides an owner the opertunity to prove that
his car is really what it apears to be . personally recreating a car to
enjoy is just fine but misrepresenting it as the real original car to a
prospective buyer is just way out of line! the certification program was
instituted to honor the remaining original pieces of history and provide
future buyers of those specific pieces of history with a process of
verification of the history. also so the public who view these cars at a
show are really seeing "the " car they believe it to be.

chuck.
mostly this certification has been aplied to vintage indy cars and dirt
track cars. in the last few years it has become fashionable to restore
vintage sports cars and race cars of the 60's early 70"s (aaca limits cars
to being 25 years old or older in their system). personally i look forward
to seeing more restored vintage race cars from the ranks of scca type
competition both at shows and at the races!.... C.
