How much of this stuff could you use that you can't afford the Red line or 
Amsoil stuff. One large tube should last several years. I know you're retired, 
you lucky devil, but I would think that $300-400 entry fees would be causing 
you to do fewer races which would make the $10 tube of grease last even longer. 
I would certainly use moly based grease on any CV joint.

My inexhaustible supply of genuine VW CV-joint moly grease sachets has
finally been depleted.

The local VW dealer just uses axle grease.
The neighbourhood auto supply house dealer has (non-moly) CV joint
grease "also suitable for wheel bearings".
Redline sells special (expensive) CV-2 grease.

Is moly necessary? - desirable?
What do others use for race cars (Hewland gearbox)?
