Today (Sat) at 2:50pm, the Nickster gave birth to...
a 2000 lb 35 year old TR4A named Duke...
After the usual false starts, a little fresh gas, a charged battery, a litlle
priming and the sacrificial burning of some Castrol R, the Duke of OIl came
screaming into the world as a re-born racer.
Ive forgotten how great the myriad aromas of the fresh racer can be. The
smell permeated the shop and I can still catch a whiff of it hours later.
Maybe for my next million, I could bottle that smell as an air freshener
(unfreshener?) for all those Tim Tayler style virginal shops around the world!
I'm finally "under the gun" as it were to get this thing finished as I have
entered it in an April 15th race at ThunderHill Raceway and still have a lot
to do to make it trackworthy. One of the things I thought I might skip was
the installation of a muffler, but after hearing the Duke "holler" today, I
spent the afternoon installing that Flowmaster!
Stoked? You bet!
Somehow it seems fitting that the Duke was born on April Fools Day...
