"Trailer
I have a single axle trailer with a tilt bed. Works really nice and pulls
like a dream. Rock solid around town and highway. Would like to add electric
brakes to it. The truck already has an electric brake control unit
installed. Can this be done or am I looking for pie in the sky again? I
haven't checked with any trailer places yet but have not been able to find
any info on adding after market brakes for trailers in my catalogs or on the
net. Any ideas?"

Tom, it is a piece of cake!. I too had a trailer I liked but it didn't have
brakes. I ordered all of the components I needed from Northern Tools ( it
used to be Northern Hydraulics) I was able to get drums, and backing plates
to fit my axel. At worst, you might have to replace the axel to get the
right configuration. Their controller is great. It is adjustable for force
and delay. It also has a manual touch control for testing the trailer brakes
or a panic lock up. It takes a little experimenting to get it set right, but
it works like a charm. At one time I pulled a Sprite behind a Honda Accord
and it felt completely safe even under hard braking when a light changed on
you.
