Consumer's Report did a test on motor oil in the July '96 issue "In a 4 1/2
million -mile test of 20 popular motor oils in 75 New York City taxicabs no
single oil proved better thanany other" it goes on to say "Even the
expensive synthetics worked no better than convential motor oils" (quotes
from the 1997 buying guide). It may not apply to racing but I think it
certainly applies to cars driven on the street and occasionally used for
autocross etc.
