While this has nothing to do with racing, it does touch on vintage age sports
cars. I was just speaking with a friend who has had a 190SL for 15 years.
It has always been insured by JC Taylor. He received his registration
renewal back today refused by DMV because he has "Historical" insurance and
he does not have historic plates. Along with the refusal was an explanation
that this insurance policy would be worthless (According to DMV) if he had a
problem while registered as a normal vehicle. By the way, he also has a '61
Corvette insured the same way and experienced no problems with its
reregistration.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Or is the answer, "Well, it's New
York State and there's nothing you can do!"
Cheers,
Jim Nichol
