I used an accusump in the Midget. I recommend the large unit (3 quart?) as
it is the model that I used, and I found it perfect. I put it in the
passenger seat area, and used a manual valve, you can get an electric valve
and put it in the trunk, and it would work just as well.

I used mine to pre-oil at start up, and it worked great. To get it to work
on a fresh engine I put a tire valve in the oil side of the reservoir and
used compressed air to push the interior partition back, put two quarts of
oil into it manually, attached it to the engine (made up a T fitting at the
engine pressure input from the remote oil filter, then pressurized the
accusump thru a second tire valve on the air side to about 80 Lbs. That
way, I could pre-oil without having spun up pressure on the new engine. In
normal use, you already have pressure in the accusump from the last time it
was used, so you just crack the valve, see about 40 lbs on the oil pressure
guage, start the engine, and close the valve when you've recharged the
accusump back up to about 80 lbs.

I would then open the valve on the out-lap, so that the accusump would
protect the engine while racing, and close the valve on the cool-down lap.
If you leave the valve open with the engine off, or a low oil pressure (hot
idle, for example) all the oil in the accusump bleeds into the engine, and
can cause problems if the sump over fills. I found that the thing would
hold 80 lbs pressure over the winter, so when I came to start up in the
spring I only had to crack the valve and away I went!

Cheers, Brian
