The "right" stuff is probably something like aviation permatex or
hylomar. However, given my recent very good experience with this new
Permatex product, I would highly recommend "The Right Stuff" for all
non-gasoline sealing applications. It comes out of the pressurized can
sort of like wet pipe packing compound, doesn't really stick very well
to either piece, but makes a very good seal and fills in voids - I like
working with it much better than RTV. After it hardens in about 6
hours, you can cut off any excess tht squeezed out.
